'Brave Ground' How to use Dulux colour of the year 2021

Updated: Apr 1, 2022

So, it's official Dulux has gone with a neutral tone for their colour of the year 2021!! '"having the courage to embrace change" and follow their recommendation, start with a natural neutral and add some colour. With 4 palettes to compliment this new shade 'expressive', 'trust', 'timeless' and 'earth'.

Dulux colour experts have chosen Brave Ground™, a bolstering shade that connects back to nature and the simple things. A warm, earthy tone, it creates a feeling of stability, growth and potential; and provides a firm foundation for change and creativity in your home.

Dulux is often more realistic in it's colour predictions than Pantone, and tries to reflect our changing tastes so here it is, Brave Ground by Dulux.

I'm always researching new trends, and we have seen a shift away from grey in the recent year or so. This is more earthly, warmer and suits those past trend colours of 2020 of 'Classic Blue' and 'Tranquil Dawn', so if you've invested already in those colours within your schemes, this new shade should simply sit within it too, so no need to completely overhaul or alter your whole palette.

If you follow me over on Instagram, you'll find me posting daily musings of the studio, behind the scenes and sharing ideas, and coincidentally I posted a few days ago that Neutrals were the basis to get right, but were having a warmer moment! See my post here on Neutrals

I asked for your Neutral shades recommendations and some great suggestions were;

Farrow and Ball: Wevet

Little Greene: Slaked Lime

These tones are much fresher and brighter than the new Dulux shade, but you could definitely use alongside. If you're looking for a similar shade to Brave Ground - try Dolphin by Little Greene
